Sunday, November 24 - PhiladelphiaThe Philadelphia Marathon redefines the experience of what a marathon should be. A beautiful, fast and scenic course, an engaging atmosphere—it’s no wonder we’re consistently listed among the top ten marathons in the country, recognized for our mellow weather and spirited fans. Expect beautiful views through Fairmount Park and along the Schuylkill River and neighborhood residents cheering in University City and Manayunk. Weave through the well-traveled streets of our historic district, passing sights familiar to Franklin, Washington and the rest of the gang, and end your race speeding towards the steps of the majestic Art Museum. |
The Loop Race is a 8.4 mile fall classic that follows Philadelphia's most beautiful recreational path around the Schuylkill River. Started in 1972, this race has been a local favorite “cult” race for 52 years. The course is run on the sidewalk and is self contained the whole way and free of any traffic. Due to bridge construction as you enter MLK Drive, the course can not be a true Loop. We will run an out and back course that will still be the traditional 8.4 miles. The course will still pass many historic sites including the the East Falls Bridge, Laurel Hill Cemetery, Strawberry Mansion Bridge, and Boat House Row. The course is almost entirely flat. |
